BASIC FUNCTION:


Postdoctoral Research Fellow


SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:


The postdoctoral researcher reports to PI on weekly basis and larger multi-disciplinary research team of collaborator on a monthly basis.


NATURE AND SCOPE:


The goal of the project is to deconstruct how the biophysical properties of the glycan cover on pathogens enables the latter to survive harsh conditions. The postdoctoral researcher will design, organize, and conduct nanomechanical, force-interaction, and solution-dynamics experiments on the glycan shield of engineering viruses, develop analysis software, protocols and procedures, maintain detailed lab notebook, and publish findings in research journals.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:


In addition to research, the postdoc will assume responsibility of day to day operations of the lab, and mentor and supervise student researchers.


CORE COMPETENCIES:


Preferred competencies are in Atomic Force Spectroscopy, Glycosciences, Molecular Biology, Nanomaterial science, and Computation Programming


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


PhD in Chemistry or Biology or Bioengineering or Chemical Engineering or Biophysics or Biochemistry
